Surgeons usually remove the breast along with the lymph glands which extend down under the arm, followed by chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

This is very unfortunate, and to be hasty to adopt this form of treatment is unwise not only because of its irreversible consequences, but also since the chance of metastasis does not diminish with removal of an organ.
