HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

The Australian National Blood Pressure Trial, the largest one ever undertaken in this country and costing more than $30 million, was devoted to assessing the real benefit on patients with high blood pressure, taking prescription  medication.

Very surprising findings emerged even before the trial began. The recruited patients taking part in the trial were required to stop taking the medication they were currently on, before they were allocated their new medication. At least 15% of the patients that stopped taking the medication continued to have normal blood pressure after they had come of their pills.This meant that at least 100.000 Australians (and perhaps you the reader) did not need to continue with the medication for the high blood pressure.

A small study done in Melbourne by a group of general practitioners in 1994 found that a whopping   75% of all patients on high blood pressure medication were able to maintain normal blood pressure after stopping the medication with small lifestyle adjustments!

Conventional medical diuretics are known to excrete Potassium from the system, lack of Potassium promotes heart attack.

The reasons for developing high blood pressure can be so diverse and giving the same medication to all is illogical. People taking orthodox high blood pressure medication usually develop within 7-10 years, blockage of the arteries and other health problems like stroke and heart attack, requiring some kind of surgical intervention.

It is sheer negligence not knowing or not being willing to look at the alternatives available for conditions of high blood pressure.

The aim of conventional treatment of high blood pressure in short is to intercept and paralyse the signal the brain gives to the heart for more oxygen (blood), thus the blood pressure remains relatively low. Also the thinning of the blood by aspirin and other drugs will facilitate blood supply. Blood thinners like Aspirin are known from their early introduction to cause ulceration of the stomach. This works ok for a time, but it only appeases the symptoms and does nothing to remedy the cause; in fact it contributes to the cause.

The alternative approach to high blood pressure is more realistic and works on a deferent physiological principle to the orthodox. The aim of alternative healing is to restore as much it can be restored the whole body back to original condition of full health, thus alleviating not only the problem of high blood pressure, but every other health issue it may arise. With some lifestyle changes, Herbal medicine, and relaxation techniques, the blood pressure normally will come down significantly within a few weeks.

Our biggest problem is that none of us like to admit that we are wrong and we have the need of change of attitude.  We are very comfortable in our present familiar status even if it kills us. Killing of course it does. 25000 Australians die each year from iatrogenic conditions using harmful medications to alleviate symptoms of disease, and another twenty five thousand seriously injured( ABC radio statistics 2009).

Dr Dubois wrote; “the Doctor’s task was nothing less than a complete change of attitude in the patient”.  One does not need to be a Doctor to realise that the whole world is sick, and that healing may depend upon such a basic reform in our attitudes.
